Shirleen Elizabeth Smith

09/02/1951 – 06/30/2026

Shirleen Elizabeth Smith lived a life defined by love, compassion, and service to others. She passed away peacefully at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched. Born in Independence, Iowa and grew up in Dade City, FL, she served her community, helped her neighbors, supported local schools and students, and welcomed newcomers with a warm smile. She donated her time to the Pasco Guardian ad Litem program and assisted the revitalization of Dade City’s downtown. She believed that every act of kindness mattered and had a gift for bringing people together and making them feel like family.

Shirleen found peace and happiness in the beauty of the natural world and her love of animals, especially her cherished horses and cows. Her appreciation for God’s creation reflected her kindness and compassion. Above all else, though, she was devoted to her family and delighted in watching her children grow, spoiling her grandchildren and celebrating her great-grandchildren. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always generous.
Shirleen was born to Murrell G. Clayton and Corinne R. Clayton and is lovingly survived by her mother Corinne and brother Paul. Shirleen found lasting joy in her children Marcus, Brian and Jodi; her grandchildren Mariann, Chelsey, Marissa and Kaiyaan and her great-grandchildren Wyatt, Cheyenne, Zaylah, Waylan, Maddie, & Ellie; and many extended family members and lifelong friends are her source of joy and happiness.

Though deeply missed, Shirleen’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and community spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. “Slow is beautiful” was the motto she lived by.
