John Howard Kennedy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Tampa, Florida, after years of courageously fighting health issues. Originally from Connecticut, John moved to Florida in the early 1990s, where his life took on a profound new meaning when he found Jesus and devoted his life to Him. His faith guided him through both good times and difficult seasons, and he remained devoted to Jesus throughout his life. John was known for his strength, kindness, hardworking nature, and unwavering devotion to the people and faith that meant the most to him.

John’s greatest joy was his family. John embraced his role within his family with love, devotion, and a genuine desire to be there for those he cared about. His love for his family was evident in the time he spent with them and in the memories he created that will remain with them forever.

John was a hardworking and independent man who spent much of his life working for himself. He was a talented handyman who could fix, build, and repair just about anything. Later in life, John became the owner of a kettle corn business, an endeavor that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to work hard at whatever he put his mind to. Through every chapter of his working life, John took pride in providing for his family and doing things his own way.

John had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, spending time in nature, and, most importantly, sharing those experiences with his family. Whether gathered around a campsite or simply enjoying time together, John treasured the moments that brought his family close. His greatest gift was making the people around him feel loved and reminding them of what truly mattered.

John Howard Kennedy leaves behind his beloved wife, Laurie; his son, Joshua, and daughter-in-law, Samantha; his daughter, Jenna, and her partner, Kenny; and his grandchildren, Mark and Hannah. He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Kennedy, of Norwich, CT; and sister, Allison, and her husband, Ken Burke, of North, South Carolina. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. All of whom will forever cherish his unconditional love, guidance, faith, hard work, and the countless memories they shared with him. Though his absence will leave an immeasurable void, his family takes comfort in knowing that the love he gave them will remain a part of their lives forever.

He is predeceased by his parents, James W. and Ruth B. Kennedy; and brother, James (Bimbo) Kennedy.

John will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
