Samantha Dross

04/12/1975 – 01/26/2026

Samantha Dross of Turkey Creek gained her wings January 26, 2026. Born in Jefferson, New York she was the daughter of John and Cynthia Dross of Plant City. She is survived by her parents, brother JJ and his family, sisters Courtenay, Jen and Amy. A graduate of Plant City High, while taking classes at USF she became a paraprofessional at the College of Medicine Library, later she followed her dream to work in emergency medicine and over the next 21 years became an EMT, Paramedic and CCT Paramedic. After stepping back from EMS she followed another dream and found joy working with horses, keeping her paramedic skills up at local Interscholastic Equestrian Association and Pinellas County Hunter Association shows where she met many new friends. She was active in the community working with animal rescues; was a Beta Sigma Phi Legacy, and volunteer/officer with Plant City Support Our Soldiers, Marine Families and participated in laying flags and wreaths at the graves of our deceased soldiers and veterans. She will be sorely missed by the legion of friends and co-workers whom she loved and cared for.

  2. I want to express how much Sam meant to me.
I vividly remember the day I met her. I remember where we were and what she was wearing (bright flourescent green). It was 1990 and we were at try-outs for the high school soccer team. I thought right away, I like this girl! Her humor, her smile, her vibe. I loved it all! The whole package of Sam! I thought let me put her under my wing, being that i was a senior and she was a sophomore. The irony is she ended up putting me under hers. I have too many memories to write all of them down, but I will cherish them all. So many of my memories with Sam make me smile and laugh. She brought so much joy to my life. She is the reason I met my husband (which is an additional funny story). Sam was a rock for me when my parents passed recently. My parents loved her like a daughter. She spent a lot of time with us and even helped my dad with his cows. My dad was amazed with her ability to just jump in and help with farm work. That was Sam! She just jumped in to help no matter what the job was. I admired her free spirit, quick wittedness, one of a kind sense of humor and her genuine love for her friends and family. The last text she sent was a meme of Spock saying live long and prosper, that was so Sam! I am blessed to have her in my life for so many years. Cindy, John and family I am so sorry for your loss. We were so blessed to have her in our lives.
Love, Stacey Hobbs Franzen (and family Kyle, Jackson and Blake)
