Greg Alan Burgner
10/13/1964 – 12/07/2025
Greg Burgner, 61, of Tampa, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort on December 7, 2025. Born with a competitive spirit and a warm heart, Greg spent his life dedicated to family, friendship, and the passions that brought him joy.
From the age of four through eighteen, Greg was a proud ball player at West Tampa Little League, where he formed lifelong memories and friendships. His talent and determination on the field led him to play for Jefferson High School, and he later became a member of the 1981 American Legion Post 248 team that went on to win the Championship American Legion World Series—an accomplishment he cherished throughout his life. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982.
Beyond baseball, Greg was a member of a band, No Quarter, where he played drums for many years. He was an avid Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan, cheering on his teams with unwavering enthusiasm season after season.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Carl Burgner; wife, Kathryn Burgner. He is survived by his son, Gregory Burgner and his wife Sarah; sisters, Lori Testino (Bob), Tina Myles (John); brother, Mark Burgner (Debra); nieces, Erika Olivero, Alexis Gargis and Jennifer Stovall (Chris); nephews, Rick Menendez, Matthew Burgner (Aleena) and Andrew Burgner (Georgina); several great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A special thank you to Greg’s nurse, Kayla from CenterWell Home Health.
Greg will be remembered for his kindness, easy laugh, and the loyalty he showed to the people and community he loved. He leaves behind family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Rest in Peace brother until we see one another again.
I am not sure this sent. I will send again. Hey Mark, I just sent a message to Tina. I found both of your names in your brothers obituary. I know this is out of the blue, my name is Kent Spears. I believe I was your Brother’s wifes x husband. I received a letter from the state of Florida stating that Kathryn had $6000 sent to the state from Well Fargo Bank. I was looking to see if i could find them to tell her and found the news. I am truly sorry to hear of their passing. Please call me if i am talking to the right person and i will give you the information they sent. I dont believe you need it if you just look it up in the state records. If you need it my number is 813-917-2727

I arrived in Tampa in 73 and Greg and I became friends and school buddies right through Jr High we reconnected recently and it was like we’d never missed a beat except for Greg’s health had deteriorated but he’d grab his walker and attend my grandchildren’s baseball games for support and to give helpful hints !!
Looking forward to reconnecting again!!🙏😇❤️
