Gamaliel Santiago

Gamaliel Santiago, affectionately known to all as “Louie and, or Gammy”passed away peacefully at his home in Tampa, Florida, on July 19, 2026, at the age of 78.
Throughout his final days, he was tenderly cared for by the staff of Affinity Hospice of Hillsborough.
Born on April 18, 1948, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Louie carried a vibrant spirit and a strong, unforgettable character throughout his life. He was a man of dedication and hard work, spending over 30 years mastering his trade as a professional butcher.
Outside of work, Louie found his greatest joy in the outdoors, especially spending peaceful days at the beach soaking in the sun.
He was widely known for his sharp mind and his legendary witty comebacks, which never failed to bring laughter to those around him.Above all, Louie was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia, who was the anchor of his life.
His legacy of strength and humor lives on through his cherished children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren, who proudly called him “GGPA.”
Louie will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
